Marketing (1)

“All right, let me introduce everyone one more time.”

The building had been completely remodeled. The store at the front had the clean, understated atmosphere of a café, while the office gave off the feeling that cats might nod off in the languid sunlight of a late-autumn afternoon around five.

More than ten people were gathered inside that office: Ha Suyeon’s mother, Lee Hyein; several unfamiliar faces; and the members of Group Sound. Hyein introduced the others to Group Sound.

“First off, you’ve seen these people before, but they’re from EchoSound. You’ve all met them once already, right? As I mentioned before, the way the company is run is going to change quite a bit from now on. So I think you should all get to know the artists well.”

“Nice to meet you.”

The employees bowed. Myeongjeon followed suit, responding as Group Sound’s de facto leader. Then there were the two people who had not yet been introduced.

“I mentioned Manager Jeong Yuyeong earlier, right? She’ll be in charge of the marketing side of [Label EchoSound]. She comes from an idol agency, and from now on, she’ll be handling all the practical matters related to marketing.”

“Nice to meet you! I’m Jeong Yuyeong! Ah, being called a manager still doesn’t quite feel real! Still, I’ll have to make an effort to get close to all of you, promote your products, and promote our label, too. I used to work at an agency whose main focus was idols, so I don’t really know how indie bands operate yet, but if I make an effort little by little…”

“All right, that’s enough. Anyway, this is Manager Jeong. And this is… General Manager Go Gyeongmin. Since I’m also running another company now, I can’t devote all my attention to this one. So I’ll be delegating the company’s general operations and such to General Manager Go. I’d like everyone to keep that in mind.”

“Yes, hello. I’m Go Gyeongmin, general manager.”...
