This local newspaper in Detroit, United States, has recently been gradually losing its share to Karin News (International Edition), and is beginning to feel the pressure.

Upper management has it easy, getting paid just for sitting around. All they have to do is complain that the paper needs to win back its share and increase sales. In reality, however, it is always people in the field, like Connor, who have to scramble to deal with the problems.

The Detroit Journal is a newspaper with a long history. Ever since Detroit was resettled after the Demon King War, it has remained the face of the city and controlled its information.

Connor shared that pride. He was attached to the paper. Even setting sales aside, he found it thoroughly unpleasant to have a newspaper from another country poach their share.

This time, on the editor-in-chief's orders, Connor, who covered the social affairs beat, was assigned to a new section called "Foreigners' Voices."

Compared with Karin News, the Detroit Journal lacked an international flavor, and the idea was to make up for that. Praise from foreigners was not exactly stimulating or sensational, but it was sure to satisfy readers.

Connor had been instructed to start by publishing articles aimed at conservative readers and steadily build a reliable reputation. He had no objection to that, but it all felt rather lukewarm.

As far as Connor was concerned, the Detroit Journal had plenty of other hidebound flaws that needed changing――――for example, the fact that it devoted separate pages to "magic" and "science."

It made no sense. Why not put them together under a single "technology" section? He could not understand it. It was like deliberately splitting the "cooking" section into "drinks" and "food." There was no point...
