After Romania was destroyed along with the Gremlin Disaster, the Great Kingdom of Bucharest arose. It was a nation centered around a group of Transcendents, and Duke Renfield was the king's younger brother.

Although Duke Renfield was on poor terms with his brother, who had ascended the throne, he had no ambition to start a civil war and seize the crown. He led trade across the Black Sea with the Kingdom of Turkey and concluded a mutual nonaggression pact with the Kingdom of Rus, focusing mainly on diplomacy while prospering his domain.

When the king attempted to begin a foreign expedition, Duke Renfield advised him to reconsider.

Duke Renfield refused to provide the various supplies demanded for the foreign expedition.

When the expedition ended in failure and a counter-invasion began, Duke Renfield secretly laid the groundwork for peace talks.

Immediately after the Great Kingdom of Bucharest fell before its twentieth anniversary, Duke Renfield swiftly negotiated peace on favorable terms and secured his domain's continued existence.

When the newly established kingdom began a plan to subjugate Class 1 monsters, Duke Renfield again offered counsel, but he was ignored.
